Free flowing

One third of the lymph nodes for the whole body are located in the head and neck and to achieve healthy skin, we need to keep our lymphatic system flowing freely.

Imagine a fish tank - it requires a pump to keep the water oxygenated in order to keep the fish and plants healthy. If the pump was broken, it wouldn't take long for the water to become murky and for slime to start building up on the glass. It's the same principle with your skin - the lymphatic system works closely with the circulatory system and whilst it's the blood's job to deliver fresh oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells, the lymphatic system is your skin cell's waste disposal unit.

The Vodder method is the original method of manual lymphatic drainage which employs a specific sequence of techniques. Over 100 years ago, Dr Vodder developed MLD to help his patients feel better, but it soon became evident that not only did they feel better, they looked it too!

Skin whispering
It also boosts the immune system by increasing the circulation of white blood cells around the body; the hypnotic nature of the treatment, often referred to as 'skin whispering' encourages the recipient to drop into the rest and digest state of the parasympathetic nervous system. Whilst in this state, all the functions of the body are working optimally, including the process of making skin!

It is a treatment that is beneficial for all skin types and as it is so gentle, it is also a perfect treatment for inflammatory skin conditions such as acne, rosacea and dermatitis as it takes heat away from the face.

Surgeons recommend MLD both before and after face lift procedures, to speed up the healing process and to minimise the risk of complications.

Healthy skin

As with all methods of natural facial rejuvenation, consistency is key. I highly recommend regular self massage and facial exercises inbetween appointments.
