Ageing well
Practicing facial exercises regularly can make a huge difference to your face and the way it ages. We exercise the body, but this often stops at the neck; the face has over 50 muscles, some of which benefit from toning up, whilst others need releasing of tension. My Face Yoga one to one tutorials are ideal for women of peri menopausal age and beyond who wish to embrace the ageing process without going down the injectables or surgery route. I believe ageing well is about looking and feeling your best self and my passion is to teach you the skills to help you achieve that.
Before and After
The image above is a close up of my own eye area, taken 6 years apart. It goes to show that skin can actually improve with the passage of time; the practices and habits we adopt on a daily basis can either contribute to the skin's health and resilience or take away from it. The good news is it doesn't take six years to start to see improvements - the muscles of the face are much smaller than those of the body, meaning they spring into shape much more quickly with a regular practice and since facial muscles are attached to skin, the skin is lifted along with them!
360 degree approach
Although using the right skincare is paramount to the health of the skin itself, for a 360 degree approach we also need to consider the structures and systems that reside beneath the surface. Over time we can form the habit of overusing certain muscles, causing the overlying skin to bunch up leading to wrinkles. Other muscles might be underused, leading to sagging of the facial contours - the aim of a Face Yoga practice is to create balance, to naturally smooth and lift the face.
Targeted techniques
Over the years I have studied and practiced numerous natural facial rejuvenation modalities including Facial Gua Sha, Beauty Taping and Facial Cupping which complement Face Yoga beautifully. During a one to one self care tutorial you will learn Face Yoga techniques to target your own specific areas of concern. You have the option of incorporating any of the additional modalities listed above, although these do require equipmement; for Face Yoga you only need your hands and a mirror.
